The Great Devourer is one of the ten [[Aspects]], and one of the nine that left [[Erathia]] after the [[Second Twilight of the Aspects]]. It is an embodiment of [[Excess]], and in this regard, it is associated to the period of the same name. # Myth Harmony was the intention given by the [[Celestial Architect]] when he exposed his dream to his family. A balance between all beings, between all places, for none shall live in abundance when some were still lacking. The Great Devourer cackled at this request. How should any creation thrive in a world without challenge, in a world where all are equal in the grand scheme of nature ? How could anything undestand the joy of drinking fresh water, without having experienced the scorching heat in the first place ? What good would there be in a world without pain to contrast with comfort ? The paradox of wanting their creations to feel the entire spectrum of emotions and sensations compelled the Devourer to introduce suffering, envy and inequality in a world that would have otherwise been an abundance shared by all. It introduced the concept of age, and death, of sorrow and gloom, of lust and loneliness, of greed and avarice. But those additions were welcome by Humankind when they realised what their existence allowed them to experience: yearning, ardor, amity, bliss, passion, devotion, elation. To this day, the Great Devourer is still revered by most, in time of harvest, when a deal is about to be made, when a couple is trying to conceive their child, or when a soldier prays for the strength to defeat their adversary. No other Aspects is embraced by such a large population, and thus even when the god has not chosen them as their patron. For those under the Devourer's patronage are avatars of passions, painting their body in yellow strokes, and communing with their Aspect during feasts, egregious orgiastic gatherings, or even in the midst of battle.
