Bloodspiders are a species of anthropods originating from some small islands offshore of [[Ibune]], namely the island of [[Paaie]].
They made their way to the city of [[Sirkonos]], in [[Sukur]], by ways of an Herrenfalian trader sometimes in 1573 RB. The climate in Sirkonos was way more favourable to their reproduction, leading to an epidemic in the city in the [[Aspectdom Calendar|First Excess]] of the year 1573.
Bloodspiders are not necessarily agressive creatures, however they react violently to tremors around their nest. They are wrongly named bloodspiders because of their red-tinted abdomen. They lay eggs in warm locations, which can lead to them doing it in warm bodies, especially in a warm year-round climate.
They produce a small amount of silk, but are most renowned for the pain of their bites.
An average bloodspider has a body length of about 5cm, and a legspan of about 17cm. One of their characteristic is their ability to jump a distance roughly 50 times their size (about 8 meters).
They rarely live alone, but rather in colonies of up to 40 individuals.
